  • "In the late 70's Mr. Hall wrote a song called 'Teddy' that detailed the story of Roosevelt's dare-devil journey back to Buffalo. He's been performing it for years, which is good because we asked him to do it around six times in two different locations! We decided it would be fun to make a music video out of Mr. Hall's most famous tune. It may not play on MTV or VH1 (actually they don't play videos anymore anyway) but we're proud to play it here!" Bill Hall will be performing on PBS show New York Now scheduled for September 15. It is a documentary about Teddy Roosevelt becoming president while hiking in the Adirondack Mountains in 1901. The name of the documentary is Nine Long Days: TR's Journey to the White House. Preview and schedule are listed below.

Nine Long Days: TR's Journey to the White House tells the story of how Theodore Roosevelt ultimately became our nation's 26th president. Teddy Roosevelt is considered by the vast majority of historians to be one of our greatest presidents. He's held in such high regard that he's one of only four of our commanders-in-chief to have his face carved on Mount Rushmore. However, had it not been for a cruel hand of fate, the man we affectionately call 'Teddy' may never have made it to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

About Bill Hall

"...a talented composer-lyricist-performer, whose home-spun songs are gleaning enthusiastic listeners." -- ALBANY KNICKERBOCKER NEWS

Bill Hall is a native of the Adirondack Mountains. He was born in Newcomb, New York, a little town near the headwaters of the Hudson River. Bill is a great-grandson of Harrison Hall, the Adirondack guide who delivered news of President McKinley's assassination to Theodore Roosevelt.

Bill received his first guitar when he was nine. After studying with Nashville guitarist Chet Atkins, he developed his own style of fingerpicking and began composing songs about his homeland and our American heritage. His song "Teddy," about Roosevelt's life, was featured in the New York Times. Formally known as the Adirondack Tradition Bearer, Bill is often referred to as the Adirondack Singing Guide because of how he takes his audiences through the history of these mountains in song. Bill has been featured on many TV shows and has shared his music in concert during tours of schools, colleges, libraries, and historical societies throughout New York State and beyond. He has three albums and a recently published book to his credit. more...
